Educational Activity

Mr Asumu has an interest in medical education at all levels. He maintains this interest by training and examination of medical students, junior doctors, and orthopaedic surgeons.

Undergraduate

Mr Asumu acts as an external examiner to the University of Manchester medical school in the 3rd, 4th and final year exams.

 

Postgraduate

Mr Asumu is an instructor on a number of training courses aimed at surgeons in traing. These include courses on trauma and joint replacement.

Between 1999 and 2002, he was an instructor on advanced trauma life suppport (ATLS) courses. He subsequently taught on the basic surgical skills course run by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He writes multiple choice questions for the intercollegiate surgical membership examinations.

Mr Asumu has delivered lectures on trauma as part of the Europan Trauma Update and European Trauma Forum groups in a number of European cities including Barcelona, Rome, Geneva, and Zurich. He was the course director of the First Middle East Trauma Symposium in Dubai in 2006.
